“Harmonising aesthetics and purity are the distinctive attributes of okapiinteriors.”
About
okapiinteriors represents modern and sensual interior design. It is about creating rooms that tell a story, that touch people in their minds and souls, that are meaningful, exciting, and relaxing. Each design project has its own identity and is executed with great attention to detail from planning to realization.
Doris Schranz is the owner and creative head of the company. Hailing from the Bernese Alps, she grew up in Berne and now lives and works in Zurich. After studying interior design in Zurich and spending several years working at a number of Switzerland's leading retail stores, Doris founded her own interior design company in 2007. She sees herself as an urban cosmopolitan who also needs to immerse herself in nature every once in a while. That is where she draws her inspiration.
Her passion for materials and shapes and colours and her interest in design and esthetics have accompanied her since childhood. As a lecturer at the School of Art and Design, it is precisely those elements that she teaches and, in exchange with her students, continually explores in new ways.
Sustainability
Sustainability is a key issue for okapiinteriors at every stage of planning. Its importance is seen not only in conserving resources during planning and building, but also in the focus on achieving a "living interior design" that serves a lasting purpose. Rooms should be designed to have a sustained and pleasant effect on people.
Acoustics
Acoustics are an indispensable aspect of interior design, not only in restaurants and sales areas, where people want to understand and be understood, but also at home. Even small adjustments can often have a substantial effect on one’s well-being and speech comprehension. An acoustically well-balanced room is both stimulating and relaxing. Our competence is in finding the sweet spot between muted and lively surroundings.
